Satellite Fire Hotspot Map

Satellite thermal detections show active burning before agencies publish a mapped perimeter, and they are often the only signal for new starts and remote fires. This map renders NASA FIRMS VIIRS detections, switchable between the last 24 hours and the last 7 days to show how activity has spread across a week.

Detections are unvalidated: a hotspot can be a controlled burn, an industrial heat source, or a satellite artifact, so verify against the fire perimeter layer and official sources.
