US Drought Map

The U.S. Drought Monitor is the weekly national drought analysis produced by the National Drought Mitigation Center with USDA and NOAA, classifying conditions from D0 Abnormally Dry through D4 Exceptional Drought. This map renders the current analysis in the standard Drought Monitor colors.

Drought is the season-scale context behind fire risk: it shows how primed a region is to burn before any ignition. A new analysis is released each Thursday.
